The courtesy visit at the SGF’s office in Abuja marked the official commencement of duties for Ms. Akpabio and her leadership team. Senator Akume personally presented the appointment documents, underscoring the significance of their roles in driving progress within Nigeria’s vital South-South region.

Senator Akume congratulated the SSDC leadership and forcefully reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to accelerating development initiatives across the oil-rich states. He urged the commission to pursue its mandate with “diligence, innovation, and integrity,” stating that their appointments directly reflected President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s confidence in their ability to deliver transformative results.

“The trust placed in you by the President is a call to action,” Senator Akume said during the meeting. “Your task is pivotal to unlocking sustainable growth and prosperity for the South-South and, by extension, the entire nation.”

The formal presentation of the appointment letters solidifies the commission’s authority and operational mandate. With this explicit endorsement from the highest levels of government and the clear directive from the SGF, analysts suggest the SSDC is positioned to initiate a new phase of strategic investment and regional cooperation aimed at fostering lasting economic and social advancement.
